PROCEDURE TEXT CHAPTER 3 PART 1

Is Procedure Text?

Procedure text is text that describes the steps of how to do something or make something.

Example : How to create google account

Things you need are computer/smartphone, internet connection, browser application.

Steps :

First, turn on your computer or smartphone and connect it to internet.

Second, open your browser and type google sign up in the search column.

Third, get into the website and fill in your information such as your full name, username, password etc.

Finally, insert verification code and tick agree to terms and conditions. Now your google account is ready to use.

Generic Structure

The structure of this text has three parts

1. Title Sometimes replaced Aim or goal (Goal).

2. Materials or tools needed.

3. Steps.It's a good idea to include pictures or videos in the procedure text to make it easier for readers.

Language Feature 

• Using imperative sentences (command sentences) such as insert, fill in, open and others.

• Using simple present tense.

• Using verbs that show physical activity (Action Verbs) such as click, open, turn on, and so on.

• Using connecting words (Connective of sequence) to connect one step to another, such as first, second, then, while, next, after that, finally and so on.

               The Ant and the Dove One hot day, an ant was seeking for some water. After walking around for a moment, she came to a spring. To reach the spring, she had to climb up a blade of grass. While making her way up, she slipped and fell unintentionally into the water. She could have sunk if a dove up a nearby tree had not seen her. Seeing that the ant was in trouble, the dove quickly put off a leaf from a tree and dropped it immediately into the water near the struggling ant.
